Bring a group of women together---any age, any background, any outlook on the world---and chances are they'll start telling stories, even if no two of them have ever met before. It happens in the hot tub at my favourite spa and it will happen in Memoir That Tells Your Truth, the intimate one-day workshop I'm launching this fall at Verity Women's Club in Toronto.The first session, scheduled for September 18, filled up within days of its announcement last month. Like a rich conversation between friends, these are intimate groups---no more than eight women, so that I can mentor each one of you in turn on the writing assignment you'll prepare in advance. From each manuscript, I'll draw lessons that will guide and motivate the whole group.
I know most of you would as soon try on swimsuits in front of other people as share your tender prose with them, so I'll do what I can to make it easy (or at least not too cringe-inducingly painful). For starters, I'll pull from my dustiest drawer an embarrassing draft of my own that eventually blossomed into a story that makes me proud.
Your workshop fee of $350 + HST ($395.50, payable by cheque) includes lunch, refreshments and hand-outs.
